Giving Thanks (inspired by)

Thanks be to God, Father, Son and Spirit, for the abundance of good things he pours on His children.
We are but few, but His blessings are many.

To Seth on your eighth birthday

Are you eight, or eighteen? I think we both get confused about that sometimes!  You did ask me to make you coffee this week. You liked it, you insisted, and you were going to drink it... pretty soon. Later. Maybe someday.

A few of my favorite things about Seth:

I love your sense of order!

Though, much like your father, your insistence on order only applies to some things.
Not your bedroom floors :)
But definitely your favorite items.  Like dad, you are also particular about brand names,
and quality inspection.

I also love when you draw.  You are so very good at it!
You even inspired me to get out the art supplies again.

I love to watch you get better and better!  You really have a gift in this area, son.

I love your eagerness to learn!
You've always been curious, and you've always like to figure things out for yourself.

Sometimes you surprise me with think, like when the wren got in the house,
and I wondered out loud what they eat...
3 seconds later you had googled it and you were telling me.

The night I took you out for birthday shopping, you also shocked me:
You figured out my Iphone password!
You were SO proud!
(Now, it's my fingerprint, so good luck with that one.)

I also love the way you relate to your siblings.
You are good for them, and they are good for you.

Sometimes, it's complicated.
Like, is this a kiss, or an attempt to strangle?

I love to watch you have fun with your friends,
even if it is messy, messy fun.

and I love that you share my affection for rubber mud boots and adventures in the woods.

As always, your family loves you dearly.
We continue to pray for you and with you,
that your Father in heaven will watch over you, protect you,
and grow you up in Him;
that He would guide your ways, fill your heart with His love,
and place His blessing on You always.

Happy birthday, my dear Seth.
Love, Mom

slapstick and sunshine

This is exactly what we needed today. Sunshine and slapstick humor.

And nobody got hurt!
